This day marked the beginning of ceremonies covering 4 days of tribute to the Venerable Somdet Phrabuddhajaraya, the Patriarch of Wat Srakesa. As is customary, throughout the day, resident and visiting monks were ushered in by groups of 10 to chant and pray for the passing of Somdet.

A special memorial service was held at Mahachulalongkornrajavidlaya University to honor the lifetime achievements of Somdet's "Mission of World Buddhism"
Following the service at the university, we were back at Wat Srakesa. Being it was the weekend, it allowed many more visitors to join and pay homage.

Following 2 days of services at the temple, Somdet was transported via funeral cortege to Wat Thepsirin where his final moments in mortal form were highlighted by the arrival of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Yet the most profound event was the huge turnout of his friends and followers whose hearts he had touched through his journey's.

Today began the journey home from Wat Thepsirin. The pire was opened and relics distributed, thrown to the wind in 4 directions, and hurridly collected by worshipers. The ashes were removed and taken inside for a quick prayer before being placed in a float. Moments later we began the slow journey back home to Wat Srakesa.
